If you are considering divorce, you may be under a great deal of stress and emotional upheaval. It is common to feel depressed, overwhelmed, confused, and concerned about your future and your finances. The decisions you make now will have a significant impact on your life for a number of years to come—particularly on your relationship with your children and your ex-spouse. With clear and reasonable goals, a good understanding of the divorce process, and a willingness to negotiate, you can reach agreements on the significant issues of property settlement, child time-sharing, alimony and child support. I can help. Contact me to discuss your divorce or family law concern.

Florida Divorce

There are a few basic divorce rules that apply to everyone seeking a divorce in Florida, including military families:
• Residency: In order to seek a divorce in Florida, one or both parties must have been a resident of the state for at least 6 months prior to filing.
• Fault: Florida is a no fault state: you do not need to prove that someone was at fault, only that the marriage is irretrievably broken.

Property Issues

People commonly think of property division as the division of personal property: Who will live in the home? Who will have the car? How will the furniture be divided? But there are a number of other, longer-term issues that must be considered as well. I can help you understand the full implications of dividing your marital property.

Child Time-sharing

If you and your spouse have children together, you will need to plan how your children will spend time with you and your spouse. Let me explain how this process works and how important this aspect of your divorce will be for you, your spouse, and most-importantly, your kids.
